The GroHome Manager-X combines the functions of a smart meter and a wireless connection to inverters in one system.
In addition, it acts as the central brain within Growatt’s energy management system. This allows you to easily control energy flows between Growatt products such as inverters, batteries, charging stations, and smart devices. For wireless communication, you use the ShineRFStick-X2, which you connect to the GroHome Manager-X. In this article, we explain step-by-step how to install, configure, and optimise both components for stable operation.
It is also possible to connect the GroHome Manager-X wired via RS485. In this case, the inverter does not need further monitoring. This is then handled via the GroHome Manager-X. (For example, no ShineWeLan-X2 is necessary in this case)

Smart scheduling is not yet available via the GroHome Manager-X. This will become available during 2026.
What does the GroHome Manager-X do?
The GroHome Manager-X is the heart of the Growatt energy management system. This smart device:
Measures, analyses and controls energy flows between:
Growatt inverters (including the NEO series)
Batteries
EV charging stations
Boilers or other smart consumers
Supports multiple communication protocols:
WiFi
LAN
RF (via ShineRFStick-X2)
RS485 (optional)
You can connect up to 12 devices:
Monitoring: 6 (12 microinverters)
Export limit: 3 (6 microinverters)
Requirements for installation
For correct installation, you need the following:
DIN rail (35 mm) in the meter cabinet
CT clamps (included, 100A)
Stable WiFi or LAN connection
ShineRFStick-X2
Latest firmware version
Tip: working in a metal cabinet? Make sure the antennas are placed outside the cabinet for optimal signal.
Step 1 – Mounting the GroHome Manager-X
Placement on DIN rail
Click the device firmly onto the DIN rail. Check that it is securely fixed.
Connecting antennas
Connect the WiFi and RF antennas. Place both outside the metal cabinet for good range.
Mains power connection
Use 1.5–2.5 mm² cables
Remove approximately 7 mm insulation
Connect to: L1, L2, L3, N and PE
Placing CT clamps
Click the clamp around the phase wire (pay attention to orientation!)
White wire → CT+
Black wire → CT−
RS485 connection with inverters (optional)
Use twisted, shielded cable (AWG 16–22)
Connect the shielding to earth
Step 2 – Installing the ShineRFStick-X2
The ShineRFStick-X2 provides wireless communication between the inverter and the GroHome Manager-X.
How to install the stick:
Remove the USB cover from the inverter
Insert the ShineRFStick-X2 into the USB port (marking facing forwards)
Turn the lock until it clicks into place
Attach the RF antenna
Use the stick only with Growatt inverters. Never connect an external USB power supply.
Step 3 – Configuration via the ShinePhone app
1. Download the app
Search for ShinePhone in the App Store or Google Play. You can also scan the QR code on the packaging.
2. Create an account
3. Add a Power Station
Add a datalogger
Scan the QR code on the GroHome Manager-X
Follow the steps in the app
4. Choose your connection method
WiFi: Connect via Bluetooth, select your router and enter the password
LAN: The connection is established automatically
5. Pair RF devices (according to user manual p. 58)
Press the button on the GroHome Manager-X twice
The yellow LED starts flashing (RF pairing mode active)
Press the button underneath the ShineRFStick-X2 twice
Here the yellow LED also starts flashing
The app automatically recognises the devices (such as the inverter with the ShineRFStick-X2)
This process takes about 2 minutes.
In the app, under Devices > GroHome Manager-X (click) > Devices, you can view the list of paired devices.
Configuration of RS485 can be found on page 63 of the manual.
LED status: what does each colour mean?
| LED colour | Meaning |
|---|---|
| White | Starting up or factory reset |
| Yellow (steady) | Bluetooth mode active |
| Yellow (flashing) | RF pairing mode |
| Red | No connection to network or devices |
| Green | Connected to sub-devices |
| Blue | Connected to server (normal operation) |
Common issues (and solutions)
No communication with inverter?
Check if the ShineRFStick-X2 is properly installed and if the antenna is outside the cabinet.
Need to reset device?
Hold the button for 6 seconds until the white LED lights continuously.
