Is a system with multiple Growatt AURA 5000 batteries not functioning properly? Then check the selected configuration, communication cables, software versions, and start-up sequence. Does error message F73 persist? Have the settings checked in Growatt OSS.
Are you unable to commission a system with multiple Growatt AURA 5000 batteries? It is possible that the master and slave units are not recognised correctly or that an error message such as F73 appears.
In most cases, you can resolve this by checking the communication cables, software versions, and configuration.
Please follow the steps below.
Check the Selected Configuration and Installation
Step 1: Determine Which AURA is the Master Unit
Within the system, one AURA is the master unit. The other AURAs are connected as slave units.
Only the master unit:
- is connected to the internet;
- is linked to the smart meter or P1 meter;
- determines the settings and operating mode of the entire system.
The slave units therefore do not need to be individually connected to Wi-Fi or the smart meter.
Step 2: Check the Communication Cables
The master and slave units communicate via standard network cables. Check that these cables are connected to the correct ports.
With One Master and One Slave
- Insert the network cable into the Parallel-M port of the master unit.
- Insert the other end into the Parallel-S port of the slave unit.
- Leave the Parallel-M port of the slave unit empty.
With Multiple Slave Units
- Connect the Parallel-M port of the master to the Parallel-S port of the first slave.
- Connect the Parallel-M port of the first slave to the Parallel-S port of the second slave.
- Repeat this for any additional slave units.
- Leave the Parallel-M port of the last slave empty.
Also check that all plugs click securely into place and that the network cables are not damaged.
Step 3: Update All AURA Units
Next, check whether both the master and all slave units have the latest software version.
It is important that all AURAs use the same, most recent software. Updating only the master unit is therefore not sufficient.
You can update each AURA individually via Bluetooth:
- Install the latest version of the ShinePhone app.
- Log out completely from ShinePhone.
- Select Equipment Upgrade on the login screen.
- Connect to the first AURA via Bluetooth.
- Complete the available update fully.
- Repeat this for the master and all slave units.
Stay close to the battery during the update and do not close the app. The update may take some time. It is also possible that the progress temporarily remains at 0%.
Step 4: Restart the System
Have the cabling and software versions been checked? Then restart the system.
- Switch off all AURA units.
- Switch on the master unit first.
- Then switch on the first slave unit.
- Then switch on any other slave units.
Give the system a few minutes to recognise all units and connect to the electricity grid. For an installation via a socket, this may take approximately six minutes.
Then check in ShinePhone whether all AURAs are visible and whether the F73 message has disappeared.
Step 5: Have the Settings Checked in OSS
Does the F73 message remain? Then the configuration may need to be checked in Growatt OSS.
Via OSS, it can be checked, among other things:
- whether the master and slave units are recognised correctly;
- whether the software versions are set correctly;
- whether the set power matches the chosen installation;
- whether settings need to be adjusted remotely.
This check can be performed by an installer, webshop, or other party with access to Growatt OSS.
Are you an installer with a connection to 4blue as distributor? Then contact 4blue. One of our specialists can assist you by looking into OSS and remotely correcting the configuration where possible.
When submitting your request, preferably include the serial numbers of the master and slave units, a screenshot of the F73 message, and clear photos of the cabling. This allows us to assist you more quickly.
