Huawei SmartDesign is an online tool that allows you to set up and check a PV design more quickly. Ideal if you want to create an initial system layout, compare variants, or prepare your project efficiently in advance.
Huawei SmartDesign: what is it?
Huawei SmartDesign (also called “Smart Designer”) is an online design portal from Huawei that enables you to develop PV projects in a structured workflow. You log in via:
https://eu5.smartdesign.huawei.com/sdwebportal/app.html#/login
In practice, you mainly use this type of tool to get a design faster from “idea” to “workable setup”: clear, reproducible, and easier to share within your team or with the client.
What can you do with it?
Depending on your project phase, you can use SmartDesign for example to:
Create and manage projects (per client/location).
Develop a system layout (think of string/component choices at a high level).
View results and checks that help you assess a design more quickly.
Compare scenarios/variants (e.g. alternative roof surface or different configuration).
Record your design as a basis for the next step in engineering/work preparation.
(Here you can later add 1–2 concrete features with source, e.g. “export format X” or “integration Y”, once you have checked this on Huawei documentation.)
When is it useful?
SmartDesign is especially useful if you:
Want to quickly create a first design for a quotation or intake phase.
Want to spend less time on manual calculation and checking tasks.
Want to weigh up multiple design variants before ordering and installing definitively.
Want to document your project efficiently in advance for internal use or towards the client.
How to start (in 3 steps)
Log in via the portal (link above).
Create a new project and add the basic details.
Develop your design and use the results as input for your next steps (engineering, work preparation and material selection).
Tip: do you see a “green light” in a tool? Great — but always continue to check your design against the project situation (roof, environment, grid connection) and the applicable guidelines.
