The Growatt THOR 22AS charging stations are smart, powerful charging solutions for home use. Available in two variants: with and without charging cable. They offer features such as charging with surplus solar energy, dynamic tariff charging, and scheduled charging. A smart meter is only necessary for load balancing. An RFID card is included, and additional cards can easily be added via the installer environment.
What is the Growatt THOR 22AS?
The Growatt THOR 22AS is a smart EV charging station fully geared towards the future of home charging. It is designed for users who want to make optimal use of solar energy and align their charging behaviour with dynamic energy tariffs.
The charging station is available in two versions:
Growatt THOR 22AS-SNO (WiFi): without fixed charging cable
Growatt THOR 22AS-P-V1 (WiFi): including 5-metre charging cable
Both variants feature WiFi connectivity and come with 1 RFID charging card. They also work with a wired LAN connection.
Note: The THOR 22AS is a 3-phase charging station. It will always supply 3-phase power and will not switch between 1 and 3 phases, for example when charging from solar power.
Smart features for smart charging
The Growatt THOR 22AS is equipped with several smart features that make charging not only more efficient but also more sustainable:
Charging with surplus solar energy
Maximise the use of self-generated power. The charging station can automatically switch to charging with surplus solar energy, resulting in lower costs and reduced CO₂ emissions.
Charging with dynamic tariffs
Smart algorithms allow you to charge when the electricity price is lowest. This makes the THOR 22AS ideal for households with a dynamic energy contract.
Scheduled charging
Easily set charging times via the app. Convenient for fixed routines or if you want to charge outside peak hours.
Smart meters: when yes and when not?
A frequently asked question: do you need a smart meter? The answer depends on how you install the charging station:
Without load balancing: no smart meter required
With load balancing: smart meter required
Note: the Growatt THOR 22AS communicates via a wired RS485 connection with the smart meter. This means that the placement and wiring must be well planned during installation.
Installation with battery? This is what you need to know
When installing the charging station in combination with a battery and inverter, it is important to know that the Growatt smart meter for the charging station does not communicate with the inverter.
You therefore need two separate smart meters:
1x for the inverter
1x for the charging station
Both smart meters communicate independently and each requires its own RS485 connection.
RFID cards: easy management
One RFID card is included upon delivery. Want to add extra cards? This can be easily done via the installer environment:
Hold the new card against the charging station
Note the displayed ID number
Add the ID via your installer account
The card is immediately usable!
Ideal for families or situations with multiple EV users.
